Cleaning – should you hire a professional cleaner? Good question. The positive for this option is that you do not have to clean the home or apartment yourself. The reality of this choice that we see is that the cleaning company is not given the cleaning guide provided to the tenants and do not perform a thorough cleaning job then you get charged to have someone else go back and do the items missed. A big misunderstanding between tenant and a cleaning company is that the cleaning company will go back out and finish up what a property manager feels has been left undone. That is not the norm for this situation. They are either too busy or have only been paid a set number of hours of cleaning and will not go back unless paid more. This leaves the tenant paying for 2 cleaning services and leaves them unhappy. If you hire someone, give them the cleaning guide and make sure you pay them for enough hours to get the job done. Property managers are not responsible for rescheduling or talking with your cleaning company.
