Halloween is upon us and with that, many pranksters and trick-or-treaters may try to take advantage of a vacant home. Use these tips and tricks to avert the Hocus Pocus that may arise. Be sure to lock your doors and windows. Turn on your alarms/video surveillance if that is an option. Let the neighbors know so they can be vigilant if you already have a relationship with them. Light up your home, especially the front porch to make it look like people are home. Another easy way to trick a trickster is to put your home on a lighting timer that will automatically make random lights come on at certain times of the evening. This will give the illusion that you are really home, so be sure to secure the front door. Leave a bowl of candy on your porch with instructions on how much to take, so they will be on and off your property as quickly as possible. And, remember to have a fun and safe Halloween - looks like Nerd's will win the hearts of Coloradans everywhere if you haven't picked up your bag of candy just yet! Happy Haunting!
