Dear Owners,

As I was sitting here trying to decide what to write to update you on the last quarter of the year and what to expect the first months of 2021, I felt a little like the Grinch, but even the Grinch, in the end, grew his heart to overcome his obstacles so I will as well.

Between COVID-19 and the Legislators, Federal, State, and Local all put their two cents into your business this year.  They determined when you could serve a tenant for nonpayment of rent, if you could charge any fees for their default and when or if you could evict someone for any reason.  

Colorado Property Management Companies decided to go one step further this year in representing our Clients at the legislative level.  We created the Colorado Landlord Legislative Coalition and hired our own Lobbyist to represent your rights as property owners in Colorado.

While A Cut Above is a founding member and will continue to contribute throughout 2021, I am enclosing the link for you as a landlord to participate as well.  Anything helps. Property Managers will play a large part in funding this coalition, but we cannot be the only support to represent you and your home.  Please give what you can, when you can, one time or monthly; all is appreciated.

2021 looks like it will start off where 2020 is ending.  We currently cannot evict anyone for nonpayment of rent until January 31, 2021.  Apparently, we must have overworked our local court system, although I do not know how since we cannot give them any business, because courts have decided not to reopen until February 5, 2021.  This means the soonest we can send a file over for a court date would be the last week in January 2021.

With all of the challenges we have faced this year, I am still grateful for the staff that has had to jump through unusual hoops this year just to do our day-to-day jobs in property management.  Property Managers can almost be called Lawyers now with all the legal education we got this year! And our office has never been cleaner!

Most of all this year, I am grateful for all of our clients who have ridden out this year right beside us.  I appreciate all of you who have reached out to give us support during this trying year.
